Total power is calculated by adding the total watts consumed from aerodynamics and rolling resistance, with the goal to have your total power number as low as possible. A well-designed cycling wheel is optimized so you have the benefits of both–aerodynamics and low rolling resistance.
The graphs on the left show how many watts the FLO 49 AS can save you over a standard bike wheel, Mavic Open Pro, and even a wheel that has only been optimized for aerodynamics, the 2016 FLO 45.
Continental GP 5000 tires in sizes 25mm, 28mm, and 32mm were used for optimization and testing. As you can see, 28mm tires on the FLO 49 AS requires the fewest number of watts, making it the fastest tire for this wheel.
